It has been way too long since the last time I’ve updated this thing! Life and school has been so insanely busy that I have no idea where the time went! The last month has been stressful interviewing for an art director position at this camp I’ve wanted to work at for so long! Although after three interviews, it’s officially out of my hands and I’m hoping to hear from them soon. If I get the position, I will fly out to California, 5 days after we get back from Uganda!
Speaking of Uganda… we are officially leaving in 38 days, which is insane!!!! Last time I updated, we had about 100 days still to go! Our plane tickets have been purchased and we’re working on the last bit of our fund raising. I hadn’t raised any money since almost the last time I updated so I was starting to feel a bit nervous, as all of our money is officially due by the end of the month. However, within the last 2 weeks, about $1,800 has poured in. I’m not even sure where it all came from or how that happened. I’m waiting for one more check to arrive that someone committed to sending and then I will have $30 more than I need, which will go to someone else on my team.
This whole journey has been incredible. I’ve learned so much and have been completely blessed by God’s faithfulness! There have been some people that I was expecting to donate and didn’t even acknowledge that I was going, which was sometimes frustrating. But then there were those who I hardly even knew, who would constantly bless me with their love and give me more than they could probably afford. I’m so honored and so stinking blessed by the generosity of such strangers! I truly don’t know what I would do with out them!
So, in short, THANK YOU to everyone who has supported me so far through this journey! I love you all! :)

Less Than 100 Days!
Hey Friends!
Holy Cow! School is kicking my butt, hence why I’m just now getting to this, when I intended to do it two weeks ago! I have a bit more news since the last time I updated, so get excited!
Our team also has a blog now, which can be found at… http://iwuugandateam2010.blogspot.com. Occasionally, while in Uganda we will be going to an Internet cafe, so you can stay up to date with the latest news and adventures from our team.
Can I just say how stinking excited I am?! I knew I was going to Uganda and was excited before, but it still didn’t feel like a reality until about 2 weeks ago! We finally found out more of what we are going to do while we are there rather than just a general guess, which I think is making it feel a bit more real. We found out that we got new missionaries since our old ones came to the States and will be here for the next 6 months, which is actually going to be really good I think. They are a younger family and also have three kids, which will be fun. Hopefully this change will be better in the sense that there will be more communication between them and our team.
Part of the time when we are there, we will be working with students from all over the world at Kampala International School, working with the children in the orphanages! However, the thing I’m looking forward to the most, at the moment, is going to Buvuma Island, which is located off of Lake Victoria. This island has absolutely no electricity and an overwhelming amount of children. To get to the island we won’t be taking a ferryboat like one might in the States. Rather, we will be taking giant canoes and will be transported to the land by the local people. We will then be staying on the island, possibly in mud huts, and ministering to all of the people there. To see photos and learn more about Buvuma Island, go to http://buvuma.org/photos.
As far as fundraising goes, it’s hard for me to not get nervous. I know that God is faithful and He will provide, but when I have a break of not receiving any support since before the last time I wrote, in almost a month, it’s really hard to not get discouraged. Our team is also doing a few fundraisers this month, which will hopefully help. Over Christmas Break, I was bored and made these really simple potholders out of old bottle caps, which I think are pretty neat. Anyways those are now for sale and can be purchased at http://www.etsy.com/shop/mfuehr2. All proceeds will go towards my fund raising. I am also going to send out more support letters, hopefully by the end of the week. One of my good friends, told me that when she went on a missions trip, she received most of her funds from the support letters she sent to businesses, which I had never even thought of. Not having a big family and very many people to send letters to has made fundraising more challenging. So I think I’m going to go at it once more and send a bunch of letters to businesses from my hometown. After that, I will have done what I can, and the rest is in God’s hands.
Anyways, I believe that is all the news I have for now. Please continue to keep our team in your prayers as we continue to get to know each other as well as plan our trip. Pray that we will receive the necessary funds this next month through all of our fundraisers. Also pray for the people of Uganda to whom we will be ministering to and working with!

I am so Blessed!
Hey Friends!
So my Christmas Break was wonderful and relaxing but school has started back up and there is no slowly getting settled into things. I get the feeling that this semester is going to be intense being enrolled in 7 classes again. However, I know it will go by quickly and I am excited for the amount of growth and the new relationships that will be made throughout this next semester.
Our first meeting of the semester for this exciting trip to Uganda is on Sunday, so hopefully we will find out more of the details and logistics of what we will be doing throughout our time in Uganda so I can keep you updated.
Over Christmas Break I was getting really discouraged. It’s funny how one person can have such a huge impact on you and be so discouraging. For the sake of keeping the anomominity of this person, I’m leaving out names, however, I was extremely frustrated after being constantly discouraged about the reasons why I am going to Uganda, was told there was no way I was going to be able to raise the amount of money I would need, and was even told to take a machine gun with me in order to kill anyone that is different from me (to put it nicely). I was so heartbroken; that someone I know who I feel like should support me would say such awful things about something I am so passionate about. However, I stood up for what I believed in and constantly prayed that God would give me strength and I would not be discouraged, that I would be filled with an abundance of his love in order to share it with all the Ugandan people that I love so much! I also prayed that I would continue to get donations and support from people in order to live out his plan for me!
This last week was just what I needed and has been so encouraging! I had an abundance of support letters waiting for me back at school and have continued to get at least 1 letter every day this week! In only 1 month, I have a third of my trip paid for without any extra fundraising and I couldn’t be more blessed! I am so so sooo very thankful for the generosity of everyone around me and their willingness to support me and my efforts. Even people that I was expecting the least from have surprised me and given me the most! I am truly honored and couldn’t be happier to call you all my friends! I am truly blessed!
I will do my best to try and update this more, but the semester flies by so quickly and before I know it a month has already passed.
Thank you again for all your generosity!
Love you all!
Meg

First Fundraiser
Hello Friends –
So these last few months have been crazy busy! School was insane juggling seven classes, all the projects I had to finish, as well as working on stuff for Uganda. I sent out all of my support letters over Thanksgiving and am already starting to get responses, which is AWESOME! So far, I have about $500 raised towards my trip. I was starting to feel discouraged at one point as I would check my mail, and was constantly seeing others receive support letters, yet time and time again, there would be nothing in my mail box. So, I prayed that God would calm my nerves and reassure me that I would receive the funds I needed. Everything so far has been in his hands and I know he will provide, but I just needed a little reassurance. Well, the next day, I went to check my mail, only to find 3 support letters waiting for me, totaling $230!
Our team is currently in the middle of our first fundraiser. We are currently partnering with OmniPeace, which is a humanitarian fashion brand that donates 25% of their profits to charities promoting peace, education, human rights, and the end of extreme poverty in Africa by 2025. They design shirts and other apparel to share the message about poverty in Africa. To date the company has raised over half a million dollars for charities that support their mission, built a school in Senegal and is currently working with UNICEF & the V-Day Foundation to build the City of Joy, a healing center and safe community for Congolese women and girls
So what does this mean?! Our team is selling the OmniPeace t-shirts, which not only helps out OmniPeace but also the efforts of funding our trip to Kampala, Uganda. Each shirt can be purchased for either $20 or $25 and come in sizes: Small, Medium, Large, X-Large, and 2X-Large. If you would like to purchase a t-shirt, please contact myself at megan.fuehrer@student.indwes.edu!

Please continue to keep our team in your thoughts and prayers as we continue on this exciting journey!

A Dream Come True
I thought I would take the time to formally let you all know what is going on in my life and most recently, my journey to Uganda! ☺
After working at a summer camp my freshman year, I found a love for kids that I never knew I had. I then realized I was in the wrong major and needed to be doing something with children rather than being stuck in a cubicle all day long doing a job I really didn’t have the heart to do. I then decided to switch my major to Pre-Art Therapy (which is basically just a double major in Art and Psychology) and transfer to Indiana Wesleyan University, the same university that my wonderful sister graduated from! It is my dream to work with kids, primarily doing art with them, mainly in either camps or possibly even in orphanages overseas somewhere.
While attending IWU last year, I randomly heard of an organization called Invisible Children. For some reason I was so fascinated with this organization, almost to the point of obsession. I constantly wanted to learn more and more about it. I went to their website, www.invisiblechildren.com, and absolutely fell in love with the children of Uganda. I watched video after video on the website and was so heartbroken. Due to war, so many children have been forced to be soldiers and many are left as victims who don’t survive or are left alone with out any family. I can’t even imagine what it would be like to be an adult by the age 8. With that said, within the last year, I have absolutely fallen in love with these kids and have wanted to do anything I can to help them. Most of all, I have wanted to go to Uganda myself and just give all the kids giant hugs and show them my love, as cheesy as that may sound!
Every year our schools student missions’ organization (World Impact) offers about 25 mission trips around the world for students to go on. However, due to the lack of funding, only 11 trips were offered this year, one of which happened to be Uganda! Trips all vary in purpose from anything to ministering to the elderly, people in hospitals, children, or more on the aspect of manual labor, such as building homes and tasks of that sort. Not knowing what the trips purpose would be, I applied and was hoping and praying that the trip would have something to do with children, primarily the ones left in the orphanages. Two weeks after I found out about the location of the trip and already committed to applying, more information was released and the trips primary focus was to work with the children in the orphanages in the capital city of Uganda, known as Kampala. I was stoked! It could not have been more perfect! After applying, I was so nervous and tried not to get my hopes up since I knew that 55 other people were intending on applying and there were only 8 spots open. After being told I had exquisite recommendations, I was contacted about an interview. Two weeks ago, I had my interview and was so incredibly nervous, but felt confident afterward and thought it went well! After my interview, I knew there was nothing else I could do but wait patiently and pray that I would be accepted. We were told that we would find out by November 4th by receiving a letter in the mail, only if we were accepted. I have never been more nervous in my life to check my mail, hoping that my letter would be there. Anyways, today we all received emails rather than letters in order to speed up the process congratulating us on our acceptance to the team! I was ecstatic and so very excited!!! I still don’t think it has really processed yet. I keep going back to my email and re-reading it to make sure I read it right and I’m really going!
As of right now, I don’t really know much besides that I’ll be going to Kampala, Uganda to work with the children in the orphanages in May for about 3 weeks; the official date has yet to be set. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t scared or nervous. I know there is a risk with going (even though our school isn’t going to send us anywhere that’s not safe and they’ve been sending students to Uganda for years), but I do know that God has placed a deep love for these children in my heart and it is my greatest desire to go there and to love them and I have 100% faith that we will be kept safe.
As I find out more, I will keep you updated and let you know all the exciting news about this exciting journey I am about to take! ☺
